JAN FREUCHEN

Jan Freuchen is a Norwegian artist based in Kristiansand, Norway. He works in painting, collage, sculpture and installation. He also does curatorial and collaborative projects, and is the founder of Lord Jim Publishing.

 

Freuchen works in various mediums, often using already existing images and objects, such as laptops, signs, and textiles, to create his two- and three-dimensional hybrids. In his playful approach, Freuchen combines conceptual strategies with a wide range of materials, artistic techniques and temperaments. Freuchen’s works revolve around grand turning points such as environmental issues, the impact of technology and the evolution of visual symbols. Impact might be a key word when diving into Freuchen’s artistry.

 

Freuchen has a degree from Bergen National Academy of the Arts (KMD) and Staatliche Hochschule für Bildende Künste, Frankfurt. Freuchen has done several solo exhibitions, group shows, and public commissions. He is represented in museums, public and private collections.
