We so look forward to opening our next exhibition with Maya Stefania Wibling. This marks Wibling’s second exhibition in the gallery. Maya Stefania Wibling is a Danish artist who lives and works in Aarhus, Denmark. She primarily works in painting, focusing on figurative and narrative painting.
Wibling has created a whole new series of oil paintings in various formats, focusing on the woman and her role in restoring a world out of balance. An active messenger pointing out connections between all things. In her work, Wibling often explores the masculine and feminine - not as counterparts, but rather as two complimentaries. Her works focus on the feminine principle, inherent in us all, and reflect a cyclic approach where restitution and afterthought is as important as expansion and action.
Comparing Wibling’s works to some art historical giants we may think of Hilma af Klint, Henri Matisse and Frida Kahlo. That being said, Wibling has developed a distinct and recognisable visual language, or signature, if you will. Her work with colour and layering of paint creates texture and a sense of space that is quite special.
