Anine Aasen: At home in colour
Anine Aasen (b. 1992) is opening her first solo exhibition since graduating—right here with us.
At Home in Colours promises to be a vibrant display, featuring a brand-new series of paintings alongside a large-scale installation.
We are deeply impressed by her early practice. Aasen delivers paintings that are rich in content and visually striking.
While aesthetically captivating, her works are also layered with personal, cultural, and art-historical references, inviting viewers to continually uncover new depths. Alongside her strong conceptual approach, her technical craftsmanship is truly admirable.
Aasen’s use of color is inviting, balancing dynamic figuration and abstraction. Fragments of everyday objects, architectural spaces, and light merge to form unexpected visual dialogues.
In one section, she works meticulously with pattern and form; in another, she fractures figuration entirely. Her works feel intimate and familiar, yet intriguing and foreign all at once.
This marks the artist's debut exhibition at the gallery, and we are thrilled to present her work.
The Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design at the University of Bergen (KMD) is currently cultivating some of Norway’s finest painters, and Anine Aasen is a prime example. Painting is experiencing a well-deserved renaissance—a natural shift in an era marked by digital fatigue.
Anine Aasen lives and works in Bergen, Norway, working primarily as a painter. She earned her MFA from the Art Academy at KMD in the spring of 2024.
